We’re looking forward to local artist @RichFairhead coming to #Brixtonarches this Wednesday!
One half of South London based art collective Happy Hour Prints, Rich will be illustrating the windows of Kiosk 1 with his bold and creative graphics, alongside displaying his own prints in the #kiosk windows (some of which you might recognise as local #brixton businesses…!).
Pop down to Kiosk 1, Brixton Station Road between 11am-2pm on Wednesday to see him in action!
🎉 Exciting News! Alhaji Suya is coming to #Brixton! 🌟
We`re thrilled to share some fantastic news – a new business is about to join the #BrixtonArches community.
West African food business @alhajisuya will be opening their fourth outlet in #SouthLondon at Kiosk 9 Brixton Station Road. Founder Alhaji Ali started his business in 2018 and is the first licensed kilishi manufacturer in the EU and a leading provider of Suya and other traditional dishes in London.
Alhaji Suya is already occupying a #railwayarch in #Walworth, using this #property as their kitchen and head office, and are excited to expand their growing business with a new takeaway outlet in Brixton! 🚂
@empathymuseum is coming to Brixton Arches! 🎉
The award-winning international art project is transforming 8 & 20 Atlantic Road into a #popup store, featuring a series of installations and workshops designed with dialogue, human connection and community-building at the centre. Step into the life of a stranger in the shoe shop, read about the lives of others in the library, and take part in conversations with the likes of Sunday Times Bestseller author Caleb Azumah Nelson, and Health Psychologist Esther Murray. 👞📚
The pop-up will be opening Friday, 22 September for 6 weeks. Find out more by visiting 👉www.empathymuseum.com/london/.
Between 1983 - 1986, 21 Atlantic Road was home to Brixton Art Gallery.
Last month its co-founder Andrew Hurman brought the gallery back to 21 Atlantic road, hosting an #exhibition which displayed artwork and posters from a selection of the 50 shows that took place and showcasing work from a variety of LGBT artists, feminist groups, and one of the most recognised collectives of the 80’s Mirror Reflecting Darkly.
Taking place within the #railwayarch they originally called home, Andrew and the gallery’s return to #Brixton was a wonderful reminder of one part of the area’s creative heritage, in the original space where this particular part of the story took place.

Our #railwayarches have been home to a variety of businesses in the past. The Brixton Art Gallery, run by a collective of local artists at the time and host to a range of innovative exhibitions, once occupied 21 Atlantic Road, #Brixton, during the 1980’s.
Next Thursday, 22 June Andrew Hurman, one of the co-founders of the #gallery, will be bringing a part of the original collective back to 21 Atlantic Road. Marking what would now be the 40th anniversary of its opening, he will be hosting an #exhibition showcasing an assortment of #art once displayed in the gallery, and launching his new publication, “Brixton Art Gallery 1983-86: An Illustrated History.”
The event is a great opportunity for you to discover a past part of Brixton’s community. Entry to the #popup exhibition is free, and it will be open between 12.00 -16.00 from Thursday, 22 June - Saturday, 1 July at 21 Atlantic Road, Brixton SW1 8HX.
A huge thank you to the students from the University of the Arts London for hosting their fantastic #popup exhibition at 20 Atlantic Road last month. The three-day event in one of the #railwayarches in #Brixton was a big success, and we enjoyed immersing ourselves in the impressive combination of #art and performance when we visited!
